A Purple Room

Keira has had the same pink and brown bedroom decor since she was born.  And being that its been a long while since she had a bumper and a mobile, the rest of the room really hasn't had much of a theme.  Now that she is turning THREE years old this Spring, we've agreed that it's a great time for some change.  To give her a space that's catered more to Keira.  To allow her to pick a color that she would enjoy having in her room.  To make it look more like a little girl's room instead of a baby room.  And guess what color she picked?  Purple.  Of coarse she picked purple.  I had no doubts that she would pick any color other than purple.  And that is just fine by me.

So we're in the market for a new purple room!  One that still allows her to be a little girl, but also one that will grow with her a few years...or many years hopefully. This is actually much harder than I thought it would be.  I typically get an idea in my head before ever researching my options, and then I often have a hard time finding something to match the idea in my head.  But we've finally found the quilt and shams that we want to go with...from Pottery Barn...and waaay too expensive, may I add.  But we're hoping she will have it for years to come and that it will be worth the splurge.  We will be going inexpensive on everything else...sheets, bed skirt, lamp, curtains, etc...meaning nothing else from Pottery Barn!

Keira has Espresso furniture...a long dresser, a large armoire, and a toddler bed that we'll be converting to a full bed while transforming her room (the other expensive part to this).  I'll be sure to share before and after's of her room transformation as soon as we're done...hoping to have it all together in a couple of weeks.  In the meantime, I'll share the little things I'm doing for her room along the way.  Starting with these adorable little butterflies that I found at...Dollar Tree.  I just happened to see these when browsing through and for $1, I couldn't resist.  Besides, any reason to paint is worth it for me.  It's such a therapeutic hobby for me.  So here is the hanging butterfly set before and after...

Not bad for a $2 project, huh?

Another Visit to the Park...

Before the weekend rain started, Friday was a gorgeous afternoon!  I got off work early...thinking we were going to either head to the zoo with Nonna (she has been wanting to take us), or go fishing.  Instead, we just decided to go up to our neighborhood I'm sure you've noticed, we do often.  Keira rode her scooter, Scott taught her some basketball, and both the girls swung.  Nonna enjoyed seeing them play.  It was a fun afternoon...
A few self-timer moments...

Notice that shadow...

Love those chunky legs!

Shameless Snapshot Sundays

So I've linked up to Sara's "Shameless Snapshot Sundays"!  My first linkup ever.  She created this linkup as a way to showcase the things we love most in our lives.  I can now share some of those random cute moments that I capture with my cell phone or even with my camera that don't necessarily have a story to tell.  Plus, Sunday's aren't blogging days for I can still share a glimpse of my life without spending my Sunday time typing.  Thanks Sara for the linkup!  And for anyone else wanting to join in, check out her blog , Life in these times...

Just snapped a few pictures while girls were eating's a time we get to spend together before heading off to work

Stopped by Sunday Park last Sunday evening just to look out at the water...and Keira fed the ducks a few french fries too...Shhh!

Hi-Lites, Lo-Lites, and Some Things in Between

Our week's Hi-Lites, Lo-Lites, and some things in between...

Alyssa had her first playground swinging experience...she loved it!  And we've already gone back for another.

I transferred all of our camcorder videos since Keira has been born onto DVD...huge accomplishment!

I've replaced all of the frames throughout my house that I wanted updated...another accomplishment.  I've been  needing to do that for a long time.

Alyssa has dramatically increased her scooching ability...getting much closer to an actual crawl.  She scooches her little butt high in the air, crosses her arms in front of her (without using them to move), and pushes off with her feet.  This just might be her version of a crawl. She certainly can get to what she wants easily.  It's quite adorable!

Keira is loving wearing her new "Flop Flops" !  Usually put on the wrong feet...

I started tanning.  I know its unhealthy and I shouldn't do it.  But I thoroughly enjoy it and gives me a little more confidence, somewhat disguising my stretch marks...well not really, but tanned skin always looks better.

Lyssa tried Mum-Mum's this week.  And has been munching away on them!  Literally, they're gone in like a minute!

I ordered 2 new bathing suits...unfortunately things have shifted since baby #2, making the bathing suits I have not very flattering.  But I will be wearing a bikini regardless of the flabby skin and stretch marks.  Only 9 more weeks before the beach.  YAY!

Keira got these adorable sunglasses that she picked out at Wal-Mart...

I've linked up to Sara's "Shameless Snapshot Sundays" weekly post.  Yay, a place for my random, "don't have a story to tell with this picture", kinda pictures.

Now it's gonna be a very rainy weekend.  But it's nice to do nothing.  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

A Plan to Make No Plans

Typically I like to make a plan for my day.  Today, I had a plan to make no plans.  It's my usual Wednesday off.  And after those terrible thunderstorms last night which immediately had Keira in our bed, giving me extra snuggle time with her, we woke up to a gloomy, cloudy, foggy couple of hours...which gave me zero motivation to go anywhere or do anything.  So we got ready for the day but really did nothing.  The morning was uneventful and unproductive...except I was with my girls and that's enough for me.  And of coarse I must take pictures of their adorable faces even if we aren't actually doing anything.  I can't help it, I can't resist their cuteness.

Keira loves to get in Lyssa's bed with her, so today I let her once Alyssa woke up from her morning nap.

After lunch, we went for a stroll up to the park.  Keira actually swung on the swings...she usually refuses.  But since the slide had wasps underneath, I guess she figured swinging was better than going home.  And I decided to put Lyssa in the baby swing too...that's a first.  She loved it...especially when Keira pushed her!

Now the girls are napping and I really should be cleaning up my disaster of a house.  But my energy level is at zero right now.  In fact, I'm considering crawling into my bed for a short nap myself.  Unfortunately this mess isn't going anywhere so I'll have the opportunity to clean it up tomorrow..or the next day...or the next...
